What is Sweet Potato Society Inc.?

Sweet Potato Society Inc. is a community food pantry. We operate the Helping Hands Food Pantry, providing nutritious food, essential supplies, and community support services to individuals and families in Southeastern Connecticut. We are a United Way Partner Program.

What areas does the pantry serve?

Sweet Potato Society Inc. is based in Old Lyme, CT, and we serve southeastern Connecticut and Middlesex county. However, our team can serve you anywhere in Connecticut if the need arises.

What are your hours of operation?

​

Our standard pantry hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Emergency appointments are also available.

 

How can I get food if I can't come to the pantry?

We offer a free food delivery service for home-bound seniors and veterans. This is a delivery of pantry goods, not an in-home care service. Please contact us to schedule.

 

What kind of items do you provide?

We provide fresh produce, meat, dairy, non-perishable food, baby supplies (diapers, formula), personal care items, and household cleaning products.

 

Do you need volunteers?

Yes! We rely on volunteers for food sorting, client assistance, and delivery driving. Contact us to join our team.

 

How can I donate?

We accept non-perishable food, personal care products, and financial donations. Please call or visit to donate.

We serve anyone in our service area facing food insecurity.

 

Do you support veterans?

Absolutely. We support our veteran community through our pantry services and specialized home food delivery program.
